JANET(UK) became responsible for the management of the administration and registration of ac.uk and gov.uk domain names on 1 August 1996.
We work closely with The Central Office of Information (COI) which is responsible for the management and policy governing the gov.uk domain, with their own Eligibility Guidelines in place. These guidelines apply to all new requests for the registration of ac.uk and gov.uk requests.
