Schools Networking

The Scottish Schools Digital Network (SSDN) provides each local authority in Scotland with a common set of ICT services for use by publicly funded schools in Scotland. The SuperJANET backbone is used to interconnect the local authority schools networks and other key organisations for this purpose. The local authorities are:

Schools in Scotland are now interconnected to Universities and Colleges in Scotland via the following JANET Regional Network Operators:

  • AbMAN - Aberdeen Metropolitan Area Network
  • Clydenet - Clyde Area Network
  • EaStMAN - Edinburgh and Stirling Metropolitan Area Network
  • FaTMAN - Fife and Tayside Metropolitan Area Network
  • UHI Network - University of the Highlands & Islands Network
